Rahel Jud is a PhD student and assistant at the Institute of Social Anthropology at the University of Bern. She completed a Master's degree in Anthropology of Transnationalism and the State (ATS) at the same institute. For her master's thesis "A Paper Tiger Running Loose: Side Effects of the REDD+ Policy in the Province of Jambi, Indonesia" she received the recognition award of the Bern Environmental Research Award.

Her dissertation project focuses on authoritarianism, transnational repressive measures and collective resistance to repression, especially diaspora activism.
